Doctors

Dr Kim Bannister graduated from Auckland Medical school in 1976, and he has worked at Mairangi Medical Centre since 1982 - he was the inaugural GP registrar in 1981! Kim has a Diploma in Obstetrics and Gynaecology and practised maternity care until 1998. Kim currently has a part-time appointment with the Waitemata District Health Board, where he works as a GP advisor helping with a variety of projects at the interface between hospital and general practice care. He also has a position on the ProCare PHO Board as a director. Kim is registered with the Department of Labour for diving medical assessments, but confines his practice to recreational diving medicals.
Dr Lewis King graduated from Otago University in 1970. He is a former secretary of the Royal New Zealand College of General Practitioners. Lewis has special interests in musculoskeletal medicine and acupuncture. Lewis has had a longstanding involvement in issues to do with medical quality and health care organisation, with prominent roles over the years in the College of GPs, NZ Medical Association, and (most recently) ProCare PHO
Dr Graeme Stone qualified in 1964 and has been at Mairangi Medical Centre since 1975. In 1988 he completed study for the Diploma of Geriatrics at the Auckland Medical School. Graeme has been at the cornerstone of MMC care for decades and he has many patients who have been under his care through much of that time.
Dr Jane Pepper graduated from Otago University in 1988 and worked in various practices both in NZ and overseas before joining Mairangi Medical Centre in 1993. In 2003, Jane spent a further sabbatical year in the UK working in practices both in England and Ireland. She has a Diploma in Obstetrics and Gynaecology and her main interest is in Women and Children's Health.
Dr Glenda Lowe graduated from Auckland Medical School in 1988. She has interests in sports medicine and women's health, and gained her Diploma in Obstetrics and Gynaecology in 1990, and a Diploma in Sports Medicine in 1997. Glenda joined Mairangi Medical Centre in 1999 and currently works here at Mairangi Bay, as well as at the Massey University Student Health Service.
Dr Francesco Lentini trained as a GP in London in 2004. He is a teacher for the Royal New Zealand College of General Practitioners and holds a post-graduate certificate in Aviation Medicine with Otago University. He is a certified C.A.A Medical Examiner.
Dr Jo Blakey completed her General Practice training in Wellington, and has also gained a Diploma in Sports Medicine and a Post Graduate Diploma in Obstetrics and Child Health. She has a passion for medical education and also works part time for the College of General Practitioners facilitating senior General Practice registratrs attain their Fellowship. Jo has recently increased her hours and is now available every day except Tuesday.
Dr Anna Bedbrook has recently returned to work part-time at MMC after the birth of her first child Theo. Anna has been working with us since she spent time with us as a GP registrar.

Nurses

Helen has more than 15 years experience working as a nurse. She is interested in diabetes and wound care management.

Jill is an experienced practice nurse with skills in primary care management which will be a great asset to our preventative health screening programmes.

Lorraine trained and registered at Rotorua Public Hospital in 1976. She has recently returned to nursing after a course at Unitec in 2005 and is happy to be back as a Practice Nurse. She is enthusiastic about her job and has completed courses in areas of special interest in asthma and diabetes.

Susan is working with us on a part time basis

Shirley Peters (not pictured) completed her nursing training in 2004 and has been working since then in jobs around the North Shore.

Emma Millar (not pictured) has recently joined our team as a newly graduated nurse and brings her enthusiam and new ideas to the practice. We know our patients will enjoy being cared for by Emma.


Reception

Our receptionists are the public face of Mairangi Medical Centre, and handle the telephone enquiries, appointment bookings and account payments. Mollie, Faye and Karil are more likely to be covering the desk in the mornings, while Beth, Sandra and Geraldine are usually manning the desk in the late afternoons and evenings.

Alex is the Practice Manager. Amongst her many roles she is also in charge of the accounts, and she will gladly handle any account enquiries you may have.


Support

Behind the scenes, but playing a vital part in maintaining the clinical records, organising the doctor's schedules and ensuring the smooth running of the centre are Denise Sharp and Lynley Willis. When the front-desk staff are unavailable, they may also answer the telephones making appointments and handling enquiries.
