Enrolment
Continuity of care from one General Practice and one doctor results in better healthcare. Enrolling with us means you are able to chose a regular doctor to consult with and receive funded appointments. This will not restrict you from consulting other doctors somewhere else when required.

Teaching
We have a longstanding commitment to supporting the training of nurses and doctors for general practice. Since 1981 we have been a teaching practice for the College of GPs (RNZCGP). We have a trainee GP doctor working as a "GP registrar" in the practice and you are welcome to book an appointment to see him or her. The GP registrar is a fully qualified doctor with at least 2 years' postgraduate experience working in hospitals (and often much more). The registrar works closely with the other doctors and may ask one of the more experienced doctors about any issues which he or she is less familiar with. We find that this exchange of ideas helps us think about what we are doing and promotes learning for all of us, irrespective of the stage of our careers.
At times you may be asked if you would mind having another doctor present during your consultation for teaching and learning purposes. You are never under any obligation to agree to this. The GP registrar is attached to our practice for 6 months before moving on to his/her next position. Many of our current doctors are former registrars whom we enjoyed having so much in the practice we asked them to come back and work long term.
Dr Kim Bannister was the first registrar in 1981.
